Whether you're off on a Caribbean escape or flying stateside, a few simple travel tips can make all the difference to cut down the stress and keep things running smoothly.

These are the simple things I do to take the chaos out of travel:

Yellow striped luggage stacked on a tropical beach with palm trees and ocean – travel tips for flying, packing carry-ons, AirTag and essentials
What's in my bag? Just a few must-do travel tips that I never leave home without.

1. 📸 Snap Photos of Your Parking Spot & Luggage (Inside and Out)

This may sound simple, but it’s one of those things you’ll be so glad you did if you can never remember where you park. Before heading into the airport, take a quick photo of your parking spot—it’ll save you the frustration of wandering around the lot when you’re tired and just want to get home. I also take a picture of my luggage, and a shot of the inside once it’s packed. That way, if your bag is lost or damaged, you’ll have documentation to help with claims and proof of what was inside.

2. 💊 Keep Essentials in Your Carry-On (Medications, Glasses, Contacts)

Important medications and daily essentials—like glasses or contacts—should always stay with you in your carry-on. If you rely on these items (like I do 🙋🏼‍♀️), it's just not worth the risk of checking them. I even pack backup prescriptions just in case we’re delayed returning home. Peace of mind is everything when you're on vacation.

3. 👙 Put Your Swimsuit in Your Carry-On

If you’re heading somewhere tropical, pack your swimsuit in your carry-on. That way, if you arrive before check-in or your room isn’t ready, you can head straight to the pool or beach—no waiting, no digging through luggage in the lobby. Instant vacation mode- because who wants to waste beach time waiting on a room?

4. 👕 Pack One Full Outfit Change—Just in Case

Lost luggage is rare, but delays are surprisingly common. I always pack a full change of clothes in my carry-on—just in case. It gives me something clean to wear the next day if my bag is held up. Most hotels can help with basic toiletries, but trust me, you’ll want to avoid relying on the overpriced (and probably tacky) gift shop t-shirt as your backup outfit.

5. 📍 Use an AirTag (Or Similar Tracker)

I stick AirTags in every piece of checked luggage. It’s peace of mind, especially during layovers or busy travel seasons. You’ll know exactly where your bags are—even if the airline doesn’t.

✈️ Final Thought

These aren't just packing tips- they're stress-reduction tools. Most of these travel tips came from real-life fails that I'd never repeat. Save yourself the hassle and build these into your travel routine.
