Starting the week with a clean slate makes all the difference in how our home runs. Over the years, I’ve built a Sunday reset routine that helps our family stay organized, calm, and ready for whatever the week brings. It’s a mix of home care, meal planning, and small rituals that keep us grounded. If you’ve been looking for a simple weekly reset routine to make your Mondays easier, here’s exactly what my Sundays look like.

Fresh Bedding & Towels for the Week

There’s nothing better than sliding into clean sheets on a Sunday night. Every week, I change everyone’s bedding: kids, ours, and even the dog’s. I also make sure every bathroom is stocked with fresh towels. It’s a simple step, but it makes Monday feel lighter when the house is refreshed. Everyone has two sets of sheets, so I don’t have to rush to get it all done in one day.

Wrapping Up Laundry

I do my best to finish laundry on Sundays, so we start the week with empty baskets. That doesn’t mean it’s always perfect, but making sure school uniforms, practice gear, and work clothes are ready helps avoid Monday morning chaos. (*See my weekly cleaning schedule

Family Calendar Reset

One of my favorite tools is our whiteboard calendar on the fridge. Every Sunday, I rewrite the weekly schedule so everyone can see it at a glance. Who’s driving to practices, when games are happening, weekend plans, church, and social commitments all go up there so everyone has visibility.

Planning Meals & Groceries

I never shop on weekends if I can help it. Instead, I meal plan and make my grocery list on Sundays, then shop on Mondays while everyone is at school and work. It’s calmer, less crowded, and I’m not giving up family time to stand in line at the store. Check here for my grocery store price breakdown

Fridge Clean-Out

Before I meal plan or shop, I always do a fridge reset. Shelves are wiped down, and I check inventory to see what we have and what can be used in recipes for the next week. That way, when I unload groceries on Monday, everything has a place, and nothing goes to waste.

Baking & Food Prep

If I’m going to do any food prep, Sunday is the day. Usually, it’s simple: muffins, pancakes, or bread to have on hand for kids’ breakfasts during the week. I’ll often make them for Sunday breakfast and double the recipe to carry us into the next couple of days.

Kids’ School Prep

I go through school and activity/sports emails on Sundays and transfer anything important to our calendars and planners. Assignments, deadlines, and events all get written down so nothing is missed. I also print out their school lunch menus to see which days they would like to buy or pack. I then know what I need to add to the grocery list from their Lunch Builder for the week.

Restocking Bathrooms

I check the kids’ bathrooms and restock their shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toothpaste to make sure everyone is set for the week. I usually order these items in bulk, so I always have extras on hand and can avoid last-minute errands.

Why My Sunday Reset Matters

For me, Sunday resets aren’t about cleaning all day. They’re about setting the tone for the week ahead: calm, organized, and intentional. I’d rather spend a little time on Sunday refreshing our home so Monday feels less overwhelming. Everyone’s routine will look different, but if you’re looking for a way to feel more grounded during the week, a Sunday reset is the perfect place to start.

Additional Tips for a Successful Sunday Reset

Create a Cozy Space

Make your Sunday reset enjoyable! Light a candle or play your favorite music while you work. This creates a cozy atmosphere that makes tasks feel less like chores and more like a nurturing ritual.

Involve the Family

Get everyone involved! Assign small tasks to each family member. This not only lightens your load but also teaches kids responsibility. Plus, it can be a fun bonding time!

Reflect on the Week

Take a moment to reflect on the past week. What went well? What could be improved? This reflection can help you adjust your routine and make the upcoming week even better.

Set Intentions

Before the week starts, set a few intentions. What do you want to focus on? Maybe it’s self-care, family time, or even a new project. Writing these down can help keep you accountable.

Celebrate Small Wins

Don’t forget to celebrate your small wins! Whether it’s finishing laundry or having a meal prepped, acknowledging these accomplishments can boost your mood and motivation.
